Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Service Engineer (Compressor Specialist) to provide expert-level support for the maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, commissioning, and optimization of gas compression systems within our CNG operations.
The successful candidate will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for compressor technology, supporting operational reliability, equipment performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires extensive hands-on experience with reciprocating and screw compressors, gas processing equipment, and high-pressure systems commonly used within CNG, LNG, and industrial gas facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Troubleshooting & Reliability Support
Provide expert-level technical support during compressor breakdowns and emergency equipment failures.
Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and operational issues affecting compressor performance.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures and operational incidents.
Develop and implement corrective and preventive maintenance strategies.
Support asset reliability improvement initiatives and equipment optimization programs.
Recommend modifications and upgrades to improve equipment availability, efficiency, and reliability.
Monitor compressor performance trends and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Compressor Maintenance & Overhaul
Lead major compressor overhauls, shutdown maintenance activities, and equipment refurbishments.
Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
Supervise equipment inspections, performance testing, and condition monitoring activities.
Ensure proper operation of compressor lubrication, cooling, and gas handling systems.
Review maintenance procedures and recommend best practices for equipment lifecycle management.
Equipment Commissioning & Technical Support
Support installation, commissioning, startup, and performance verification of compressor systems.
Conduct operational testing and validation of equipment following maintenance and installation activities.
Liaise with OEMs, vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers to resolve technical issues.
Review engineering drawings, technical manuals, specifications, and performance reports.
Provide technical guidance and support to station personnel and maintenance teams.
Customer & Stakeholder Support
Serve as the primary technical resource for compressor-related issues across operational sites.
Prepare technical reports, maintenance recommendations, and service documentation.
Support management with technical evaluations, equipment assessments, and investment decisions.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Training & Capacity Development
Train technicians and maintenance personnel on compressor maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
Develop and implement maintenance best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical guidelines.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians to improve technical capability across the organization.
Support competency development initiatives and technical knowledge-sharing programs.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all maintenance and operational activities comply with engineering standards and safety regulations.
Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP reviews, technical audits, and safety inspections.
Promote a strong culture of safety, operational discipline, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure compliance with OEM recommendations, industry standards, and company policies.
Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare comprehensive technical reports, failure analysis reports, and maintenance documentation.
Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, service history, and reliability metrics.
Develop recommendations for operational improvements based on technical analysis and field observations.
Support management reporting and reliability performance reviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
OEM Compressor Training and Certifications are highly desirable.
Professional engineering certifications and membership of relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage.
Relevant HSE certifications are desirable.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 5 – 8 years of hands-on experience in compressor servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul.
Experience working within CNG stations, LNG facilities, gas processing plants, petrochemical facilities, industrial gas operations, power plants, or oil and gas environments.
Proven experience supporting critical gas infrastructure and high-pressure systems.
Strong background in equipment commissioning, reliability engineering, and technical diagnostics.
