COMPRESSOR TECHNICIAN (CNG FUELLING STATION)

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Salary: ₦500,000 – ₦650,000 Net Monthly (Depending on Experience and Technical Competence)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compressor Technician to support the operation and maintenance of our CNG Fuelling Station in Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of CNG compressors and associated equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted station operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in compressor systems, instrumentation, preventive maintenance, and gas handling procedures, with a commitment to safety, operational excellence, and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Compressor Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform daily inspections of CNG compressors and auxiliary equipment.

  • Monitor compressor operating parameters including pressure, temperature, vibration, and flow rates.

  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on compressor systems.

  • Diagnose compressor faults and perform repairs to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.

  • Replace worn or defective components including filters, seals, gaskets, valves, belts, and related mechanical parts.

  • Conduct routine lubrication and servicing activities in line with manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules.

  • Ensure optimal operation of compressor cooling, lubrication, and gas processing systems.

  • Support equipment commissioning, shutdowns, and start-up activities when required.

Instrumentation & Calibration

  • Calibrate and maintain pressure gauges, transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters, and safety devices.

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems affecting compressor performance.

  • Verify accuracy of measurement devices and maintain calibration records.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable metering and instrumentation standards.

Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Adhere strictly to all Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.

  • Conduct routine equipment safety inspections before startup and shutdown operations.

  • Ensure safe handling of compressed natural gas and high-pressure equipment.

  • Participate in emergency response drills, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation.

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, operational, and company safety standards.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and service logs.

  • Report equipment abnormalities, breakdowns, and maintenance requirements promptly.

  • Assist in managing spare parts inventory and maintenance consumables.

  • Provide technical reports and recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • HND or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Technical certifications in Compressor Maintenance, Mechanical Systems, Instrumentation, or Industrial Maintenance will be an added advantage.

  • Relevant safety certifications such as HSE Levels I, II & III are desirable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of hands-on experience in compressor maintenance within CNG stations, LNG facilities, gas processing plants, manufacturing plants, power plants, or similar industrial environments.

  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintaining reciprocating and screw compressors.

  • Experience working with high-pressure gas systems and industrial instrumentation.
