MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (CNG FUELLING STATION)

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Salary: ₦550,000 – ₦750,000 Net Monthly (Depending on Experience and Technical Competence)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and reliability of mechanical systems within our CNG Fuelling Station operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the mechanical integrity of compressors, pressure vessels, piping systems, valves, dryers, regulators, and associated equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted station operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in rotating equipment maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and industrial maintenance practices, with a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance on compressors, pressure vessels, valves, dryers, regulators, and piping systems.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective mechanical components and equipment.

  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and condition monitoring activities.

  • Perform alignment, balancing, calibration, and mechanical adjustments on rotating equipment.

  • Maintain compressor cooling, lubrication, and auxiliary mechanical systems.

  • Execute equipment repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Assist with equipment commissioning, testing, and startup activities.

Pipeline & Valve Maintenance

  • Inspect gas pipelines for leaks, corrosion, wear, and integrity issues.

  • Maintain pressure regulators, control valves, safety valves, and associated piping systems.

  • Perform valve servicing, overhauls, testing, and replacement activities.

  • Ensure piping systems and mechanical installations comply with operational and safety requirements.

  • Support pipeline integrity management initiatives and corrective maintenance activities.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance programs in accordance with maintenance plans.

  • Participate in equipment overhauls, shutdown maintenance, and turnaround activities.

  • Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure timely completion of work orders.

  • Support reliability improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and lifespan.

Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Adhere strictly to all Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.

  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.

  • Ensure compliance with gas industry regulations, company policies, and engineering standards.

  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.

  • Promote a safe work environment and identify potential hazards proactively.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, inspection records, and equipment history reports.

  • Report equipment defects, abnormalities, and maintenance requirements promptly.

  • Assist in spare parts inventory monitoring and maintenance planning.

  • Provide technical recommendations to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Professional technical certifications in Mechanical Maintenance, Rotating Equipment Maintenance, Welding, or Industrial Maintenance will be an added advantage.

  • Relevant HSE certifications are desirable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of mechanical maintenance experience within CNG stations, gas processing facilities, oil and gas operations, manufacturing plants, power plants, or heavy industrial environments.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining compressors, valves, piping systems, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment.

  • Experience in preventive maintenance planning and shutdown maintenance activities.
